The dye extraction for the color purple came mostly from fish or insects. It was considered a royal color until the 19th century.
It was hard to find purple sites that were not really problematic.
Considering that purple symbolizes dignity it is amazing how many site that use purple are really tacky, some with very gaudy gradients.
I could not find any site that really related to the meaning of purple, except where it related to the name not the content. Of the six I chose, three had either purple or lilac as part of the name.
