Why is a brand important?
In the past the consumer had very few choices. They were able to compare and judge which product or service was the best.

Today our choices are virtually limitless. It is not possible to compare and evaluate everything.
The task of choosing has been made even more difficult by the fact that many products are very similar and many more are basically the same.
Most of the time we are not making choices based on the quality of a product but rather on:
What it looks like
Who is buying it
Where it is sold
Who makes it, and do we trust them
Packaging
Price - either low or high can make a product more desirable
